October Meeting Minutes

Longhorn BBQ stepped in to hold our October meeting for us. Brett from Longhorn told us that Longhorn was founded in 1956 by 5 Texas brothers in Airway Heights. They were originally take-out only. They specialize in Southern Pit Style BBQ which they smoke for about 4 hours in 2 pits in the kitchen. All the meat is cooked in the commissary in Airway Heights.

We enjoyed some delicious bbq'd turkey and beef. Longhorn added a catering business. They also have a second catering business, Black Tie Catering which has an executive chef and can cater anything: Chinese, Chocolate fountains, Mexican, etc. Longhorn Catering does BBQ only.

Joanie went over the Treasurer's report. She said if you have a question about what a payment was for, she'll be more than happy to let you know.

Statements went out for dues. They need to be paid by December 1st to be in the new roster for January's show. Dues are $100.00.

If you have any changes to email addresses, if you have multiple email addresses, etc., please let Jaime Sperry know so her list for the evites will be up to date.

For the INPRO bridal fair: At November's meeting those members who have paid for their booths will be put in a hat. Names will be drawn and they will have the opportunity to choose which booth they would like for the bridal fair. You can still sign up for booths after the November meeting, but you will be placed in what ever booths are left.

Prices are $200 for a single booth and $350 for a double booth. We estimate being able to have 55-60 booths.

Christmas Tree of Elegance: Nancy has almost everyone's money. Please now as it all needs to be paid by November 3rd. We will have approximately $2600  to buy gifts. Our theme is "Celebrate!". The winner will be able to choose from 3-4 venues. They'll be able to have any kind of party: corporate, wedding, birthday, etc. Up to 100 guests.

The $100 gets your name on the sign and in the roster for the Tree of Elegance. $25 will get your name in the roster, but won't be on the large display board.

If you donated services, at the top of the brochure will be donors, then the next section will be the gifts going around the tree ($100 donation and up). Next section will be the Friends of the Symphony which will list the $25 donors.

Guests:
Ceil from Plexus Pink. She is a breast health educator and can teach women to maintain breast health.

Announcements:
Mike from Memory Maker decided to "make it a real business". He has done a software upgrade. It is more lightweight and portable and has higher quality.
